Marble in Novena homes
Novena has small freehold condos along Balestier and the side roads off it, plus condos along Thomson Road, Moulmein and Novena. Balestier and Novena's freehold condos from the 1980s and 1990s often have marble in the living room and bathrooms. Newer Novena condos use large-format marble that shows every etch mark.

About Novena
Novena takes its name from the Novena Church on Thomson Road (St Alphonsus Church), known for its weekly novena devotion.
Balestier Road is named after Joseph Balestier, the first American consul in Singapore, who ran a sugar plantation here in the 1830s. Its shophouses and the Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall are still landmarks.
The area is home to Tan Tock Seng Hospital and many small freehold condos built from the 1980s onwards.
