Marble Floor Polishing in Central Singapore

A marble floor is the biggest stone surface in most homes and the one that wears fastest. Our marble floor polishing restores the whole floor in one job: we flatten uneven tiles if needed, hone out scratches and etch marks, polish to the finish you choose and seal it. It costs a fraction of replacing the floor and there's no hacking.

Leonie Hill Road, River Valley: polished Emperador marble

What marble floor polishing includes

  • Walk-through to check marble type, cracks, hollow tiles and lippage
  • Grinding of uneven tile edges (lippage) where needed
  • Multi-stage diamond honing with water
  • Colour-matched resin filling of chips and small cracks
  • Polishing to matt, satin or high gloss
  • Edge and corner work by hand along skirting and door frames
  • Impregnating sealer over the whole floor
  • Daily clean-up and plastic protection on walls and cabinets

Signs you need this

  • You're moving into a resale condo or HDB flat with marble floors
  • Tile edges catch your foot or show dark lines (lippage)
  • Shine is gone in walkways but OK under furniture
  • Scratches near the door and dining table
  • Grout lines are dirty and darker than the tiles

Marble Floor Polishing: what you should know

Grinding, honing and polishing: what's the difference?

Grinding uses coarse diamonds to flatten the floor so tile edges are level. Honing uses medium and fine diamonds to remove scratches and etching and leaves a smooth matt surface. Polishing is the final step that brings up the shine. Not every floor needs grinding. If your tiles are level, we start at honing and the job is quicker and cheaper.

How we plan a whole-home job

We work one area at a time so you always have a dry route through the home. Bedrooms are usually done first, then the living and dining area, then the corridor and entrance. Each room is ready to walk on once dry.

Floors in central Singapore homes

Many condos in Tanglin, Bukit Timah, Newton, Novena and River Valley were handed over with marble in the living and dining areas, often Emperador, Crema Marfil or Botticino. Older HDB flats and 1980s condos often have crazy-paving marble chips. Both can be restored to a deep, even shine.

Frequently asked questions

How long does marble floor polishing take?

A typical condo unit of about 1,000 sq ft takes 2 to 3 days. Floors with uneven tiles that need grinding take longer.

Will my floor look new?

In most homes, yes. Scratches, dullness and etch marks are removed. Deep stains, cracks and chips are improved with poultices and resin filling, and we tell you before we start what will and won't come out.

Matt, satin or gloss: which should I choose?

Gloss looks the most dramatic and is easy to clean. Satin and matt hide scratches and footprints better and are less slippery when wet, which is useful in kitchens and for elderly family members.

Do I need to move furniture?

Small items and rugs, yes. We can help move large furniture within the home if you tell us when booking.

Do condos need a permit?

Most condos need a renovation notice and lift booking. Send us the management's rules and we'll provide the documents they ask for.
