Marble Stain Repair & Removal in Central Singapore

A stain is something that has soaked into the marble, unlike an etch mark, which is damage to the surface. Because marble is porous, oil, coffee, rust and dirty water can sink in and darken or yellow the stone. We identify what caused it, draw it out with the right poultice and then polish and seal the area.

Marble Stain Repair: what you should know

Stain or etch? How to tell

A stain is darker than the stone and you can't feel it. An etch mark is a dull, lighter patch that you can sometimes feel as rough. Stains need a poultice; etch marks need honing and polishing. Many spills, like red wine, leave both. See our guide on telling them apart.

How a poultice works

A poultice is a paste of absorbent powder and a chemical chosen for the stain. It is spread over the stain, covered and left for 24 to 48 hours. As it dries, it pulls the stain out of the stone. Oil stains need a solvent, organic stains such as coffee need an oxidiser, and rust needs a specialist iron remover.

When stains won't come out

Most stains lighten a lot and many disappear. Old rust stains and some yellowing that comes from inside the stone may only fade. We test first and tell you what's realistic before you pay for the full job.

Frequently asked questions

Can you remove oil stains from marble?

Usually, yes. Oil stains respond well to a solvent-based poultice, though old, deep stains may need two or three applications.

Can rust stains be removed?

Fresh rust stains often come out with a specialist rust poultice. Old rust stains can be stubborn and may only fade. We test first.

Why is my white marble turning yellow?

Common causes are old wax or coatings, dirty mop water soaking in, or iron in the stone reacting with moisture. Stripping old coatings and polishing often fixes it. Yellowing from inside the stone is harder and we'll tell you honestly after a test.

Will sealing stop stains?

Sealing slows down how fast liquids soak in, giving you time to wipe them up. It doesn't make marble stain-proof, and it doesn't stop etching from acids.
